Players Open

"I was at the Players Open yesterday and I wanted to thank you for the opportunity to participate. It was a great experience and I learned so much about my skills and how I can improve my game. I really enjoyed the small group drills because it was a great way to practice moving off ball and working with my teammates. I enjoyed working with the pros and the college coaches. I also liked the 6’s tournament. You were my coach for our first game and it was fun to play a fast paced game with great opportunities to work on individual and team skills. I had such a great time and learned so much about positioning on the field and moving off ball. Thank you for this experience."

"I attended the Players Open this past weekend as a 2028 and had a very positive experience! I loved working with the numerous skilled coaches and players, and it was amazing to play with the high skill level. I also really appreciated the attention to the whole player, with the college coach seminar and the mental health talk, both of which I found extremely helpful and will carry on to my lacrosse game moving forward. I hope to participate in more Open Series events in the future!"

"I want to thank you for the opportunity to participate in the Players Open this weekend. It was a perfect mix of goalie specific drills, small sided games, and full field competition. As a freshman, I had the opportunity to learn from older goalies and see shots from more experienced players. I value all the feedback I was provided during the goalie sessions and will incorporate it into my game. Listening to current college coaches and pro players, provided me with the perspectives of coaches that I will come in contact with throughout my high school career. Thank you again for the chance to learn from experienced coaches and compete with high quality players. "I just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful experience last Saturday.  This was my 7th graders first showcase and although I realize she is young, seeing the look on her face when she realized she was being coached by Cathy Reese in small groups during the 6's tournament was an important reminder of what youth sports is all about.  As a working mom with four daughters who all play sports (and this topic was also discussed during the college coaches panel) sometimes juggling the hectic schedule of practices and games and tournaments across multiple kids and states feels impossible. This fall has been challenging, but the mentorship, the sportsmanship, the friendships, the hardships - sports represents all the life qualities and lessons we want to teach our kids.  When you feel like you can't do it alone, you find your village in car pools and coaches who really care about the kids. So with a little luck and a lot of coffee, I hope that this will be the first of many Open Series events for all of the Smith Sisters."
